LUSAKA, March 27 (Reuters) -- Zambia's air force began airlifting relief supplies Friday to victims of the worst floods in forty years and the government appealed for help.
Regional countries Namibia and Angola have also been hit by floods which have affected hundred of thousands.
The permanent secretary in the Zambian vice president's office, Davies Sampa, said the floods were spreading.
"The government makes an earnest appeal to the private sector and all our cooperating partners both international and local to support this relief effort," he told a news conference.
