PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE, Manitoba (AP) _ A man aboard a Greyhound bus stabbed a fellow passenger, police said Thursday, and a witness said the victim was decapitated.
A Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer said the attack occurred Wednesday aboard the bus, which was en route from Edmonton, Alberta, to Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Authorities are declining to provide other details of what they described as a "major incident." But passenger Garnet Caton says the victim was stabbed 40 or 50 times by the man sitting next to him before severing his head with a large knife. Caton says other passengers raced from the bus and that he and the driver shut the door from the outside while they awaited police.
He says the attacker calmly came to the front of the bus to show off the head.
